Entrepreneurship Boot Camp!

So I was one of 15 students picked to attend the Entrepreneurship Boot Camp, which was hosted by Towson's Center for Student Diversity. I was so excited to go because I of course want to start my own company so I had so many questions to ask. We stayed at the Towson University Marriott in the Presidential Suit for 3 days and 2 nights and it was amazing. They fed us so much food it was ridiculous.  For the first night, we met in a conference room and had a key note speaker who spoke about angel investing and different types of funding. She gave us really good tips. But over the course of weekend we got information overload; everything from revenue models, to financial projections, to crowd funding. It was awesome, I loved getting all that knowledge and getting a clear direction on what I want to do. The experience was great and I now have no excuse on why I shouldn't be pursing my business dreams and goals.

Now that my direction is a lot clearer, I know what small steps I need to take to jump start my dreams. I feel more comfortable taking those small steps head on. A lot of the times when we have BIG dreams, we try to start BIG, but starting small can be more beneficial for learning and growth and it can save you a lot of money. I know we all want to be have huge Fortune 500 companies overnight but success doesn't work that way. We have to take those baby steps to get prepared for those larger steps.

As a result of this weekend I'm going to start a blog series, highlighting the unaccounted for homeless youth (16-24) in Baltimore. After researching the number of homeless people in Baltimore, I came across a study done by John Hopkins and Morgan State University, that explains the number of homeless people in Baltimore increases every year but majority of those people in that number are youth between the ages of 18-24. The article kind of explains how these young people don't go accounted for because the search was focused on Baltimore City. Once the census radius was expanded beyond the City they found a large number of homeless youth, they had pretty much gone unnoticed. I want to go on a year long journey uncovering the faces behind those unaccounted for homeless youth in Baltimore and let them share their stories. I look forward to helping them change their lives and inspire someone else who is in their situation.

I look forward to letting you guys know what I discover!!
